Wearable Art in Egg Nightclub London, Alternative London Fashion Week February 2011

When the inspired up and coming designer Riina Oun contacted me to assist with make-up for her show at the Wearable Art showcase in Egg Nightclub as part of Alternative London Fashion Week, I leapt at the chance. Not only was Riina's work eclectic and vibrant, but the medium through which she had created her designs, namely leather, tweaked a chord with my own sense of creativity. I particularly loved the haunting two-faced handbag from Oun's Nataraja Collection.

SANA.London

This was a shoot that myself and a colleague from Bobbi Brown worked on for the shirt designers of SANA.London.

Some of my first

Luna Lyss

Luna denotes moon in Latin and Lyssa is Greek for madness. I liked the idea of the juxtaposition of the two mythological greats and have always enjoyed the connection between madness, the moon and the female form. Looking at the moon, no matter what phase it is in, is not only intoxicating and enchanting but utterly bewitching. As wispy clouds shimmer  in the moonshine  I noticed the most fascinating study of light and dark.   So I created this look, wanting to invoke an aura and an alluring eeriness.

Reinie de la Nuit - Queen of the Night

I fell in love with the exoticism of the peacock's plumage and the deep, rich, sensuous colours. It reminded me of the ultra opulence of Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge. Black lips screamed dark, gothic eroticism at me as opposed to the conventional red. Strip lashes on the lower lash line open up the eye, creating a wider, more feminine attraction.

From Zephyr

Here I am in London, another blow-in. I'm not from here but who the hell is anyway? I'm from somewhere else and I guess that's always how I've felt. I like to remember the past with fondness and gratitude, never with regret. I think of the future as a blessing, whatever it brings with it and for now, I am here, right here. To the world I declare, "Here I am and Hello!"
